All across the United States this basketball season, Senior night games are being played. Our last home game at the end of the very long and exciting high school sports career. Flowers are being given to parents. Coaches are making speeches and handing out senior night gifts. Old photographs of cute toddlers are being projected overhead.
Such a remarkable chapter in our lives is coming to an end. We know that our sport will forever be a part of our lives. But we also know that our lives going forward will be changed forever.
We’ll miss our basketball family. We will miss our team dinners, 2 hour practices, and even Terrible Tuesdays when we ran sprints, did push-ups and wall sits until we collapsed. We’ll miss the big wins and even the tough losses. Because we know deep down inside that we wouldn’t trade a single minute for anything in the world.
Because deep down inside we know that we would give anything to play one more season together.
