CP Basketball Academy provides a fun, yet challenging environment for girls and boys ages 7-13 who want to improve their competitive game in a friendly environment with honest and supportive coaching.
Our focus on building a strong foundational knowledge of technique combined with an emphasis on teamwork and leadership attracts the best talent. We’re proud to say that many of our athletes have gone on to play at the highest levels in college.
This is a dynamic program that teaches skills to students that will last a lifetime—both on and off the court. We don’t just play: we learn.

For the past 27 years, Coach Parker has worked with parents to prepare young basketball athletes for the demands of healthy competition. He is a USA Basketball certified coach that has worked with athletes from elementary school to the pros on developing physical skill and mental performance, movement and agility training, and the development of basketball-specific speed and power. Regionally recognized for helping lead several winning high school programs, Carl was selected as the Gazette’s “2016 Coach of the Year.”
Coach Parker is President and Founder of CP Basketball Academy. Prior to operating the Academy full-time as a Montgomery County Recreation Department partner, Carl was the Assistant Athletic Director and Basketball Head Coach at Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Georgetown Day School, Carl was the Sandy Spring Friends Head Men’s Basketball Coach for over five years. He led the Beests to a yet another record-breaking season and regional recognition competing against WCAC, MAC, and IAC opponents. Carl orchestrated the best season in 36 years at Sandy Spring Friends with the 2018 Regular Season Championship and 2018 PVAC Tournament Championship banners and the first undefeated season record in school history (23-0).
Carl grew up in New York City playing high school basketball at Northeastern Academy and later went on to play college basketball at Columbia Union College where he simultaneously ran a summer basketball camp for kids. It was his experience as a team member of the NCAA Division II Basketball and Track teams that forever forged the basis of his philosophy on character, integrity, discipline, and spiritual intelligence.
A kid from the Bronx, Coach Parker resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his beautiful wife, Sarah, and their five children: Imani, Mecca, Malakai, Luke and Hunter.
